Patricia Beary is a fine art photographer and art educator from Long Island, New York. Recently retired from a 30 year teaching career in visual arts and photography, Patricia continues teaching experimental photography workshops with the Image Factory Workshops. Her photography explores a variety of themes and is strongly influenced by her fine art background. She aligns herself with the pictorialist photographers who emphasize beauty of subject matter, tonality, and composition rather than the documentation of reality. She incorporates qualities synonymous with drawing and painting to transform her photographs and enhance the narrative.
Patricia is a member of Soho Photo Gallery in Manhattan. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at the Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue and her work has and has been in group exhibitions in the US, Italy and Japan. Recognized with a 2014 Julia M. Cameron Award in fine art photography, Patricia’s work was included in the 3rd International Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography in Malaga, Spain, September 2014.
